Player of the Year: Madelynn Cantu, Weslaco
State champion Weslaco earned both top honors with the release of the Blue Bell/Texas Sports Writers Association Class 6A All-State Softball Team. Pitcher Madelynn Cantu, who won 30 total games - including both games
at the UIL State Softball Tournament - was named Player of the Year, while Mario Rodriguez of Weslaco was named Coach of the Year. Cantu finished the year with a 30-5 record to go along with a 1.98 earned run average, 196 strikeouts and 29 walks in 195.2 innings pitched. Weslaco went 37-6 for the season, including a 5-3 win in 13 innings against
Denton Guyer in the state semifinals and an 11-9 win over Midway in the championship game.

Player of the Year: Cassie Crabtree, Melissa
State champion Melissa earned the classifications top two honors on Thursday with the release of the Blue Bell/TSWA Class 5A All-State Softball Team. Caigan Crabtree was named Player of the Year, and Cassie Crabtree earned Coach of the Year honors. Caigan Crabtree went 5-for-7 with a pair of home runs and seven RBIs in two games at the University Interscholastic League state tournament to earn tournament MVP honors. For the season, she was a .545 hitter with 21 home runs, 20 doubles, two triples, 61 RBI and 21 stolen bases. Cassie Crabtree led Melissa to a 38-2-1 record. Her team defeated Lake Belton (4-0) in the state semifinals and knocked off Harlingen South (8-0) in the championship game.

Corpus Christi Calallen's Jordyn Thibodeaux earned Player of the Year honors, and Calallen's Teresa Flores Lentz picked up Coach of the Year accolades on Wednesday with the release of the Blue Bell/Texas Sports Writers
Association 4A All-State Softball Team.
Thibodeaux went the distance in both of Calallen's wins at the UIL State Tournament, working 14 innings with 13 strikeouts, seven walks and two earned runs allowed. For the year, she was 21-1 in the circle with a 0.93 earned run average, four saves, 153 strikeouts and 48 walks in 93 innings pitched. She recorded 15 shutouts and tossed five no-hitters and was named Class 4A MVP at the state tournament. Flores Lentz led Calallen to a 34-2 record and the 4A state title, defeating Sanger (8-1) in the state semifinals and Liberty (2-1) in the championship game.

Coahoma teammates Hannah Wells and Mia Clemmer shared Player of the Year honors with the release of the
Blue Bell/Texas Sports Writers Association Class 3A All-State Softball Team. Coahoma made it a clean sweep of top honors, with head coach Alexander Orosco earning Coach of the Year accolades. Coahoma finished the season with a 32-0 record, defeating Whitesboro (10-9) in the state semifinals and winning the title with a 3-2 victory over Grandview. Wells was 20-0 in the circle, including both wins at the state tournament. She had a 0.82 earned run average and struck out 157 in 93 innings while also hitting .701 with 14 home runs, 17 doubles, four triples and 57 RBI. Clemmer, a catcher, hit .642 with 13 home runs, 14 doubles, two triples and 52 RBI.

Player of the Year: Emily Turner, Jonesboro
Jonesboro's Emily Turner and Amanda LeCroy took top honors with the release of the Blue Bell/Texas Sports Writers Association Class A All-State Softball Team. Turner, a junior catcher, was named Player of the Year, and LeCroy, who
led Jonesboro to the Class A state championship, was named Coach of the Year.
Turner hit .695 for the season with five home runs, 12 triples, 21 doubles, 55 RBI, 55 runs scored and 23 stolen bases. She struck out twice in 111 plate appearances.
LeCroy led Jonesboro to a 23-7 record. Her team defeated Slocum 10-0 in the state semifinals, and then knocked off Neches, 3-1, for the state championship.
